Flight from the Kieran Empire

After our disastrous encounter at the dock of Terras, we encountered a Cutter trying to cut off our escape, suitably named ships those. But with a well-cast zephyr spell by our Crabby Wind Mage I was able to make an easy escape from the port. We circled the island in a few days, attempting to find the small bay where we first saw the Cutter guarding something, but the island was still on high-alert and it seemed likely that much of the Kieran Navy would be looking for us. Additionally, we still had quite a bit of iron ore and other supplies to sell, so getting in a protracted battle seemed foolish...

Discretion won the day, and we set sail to the south west. We made good time, with a constant wind in our sails I kept our path consistent toward Brigandy Bay and having a compass helped greatly, especially on the open water. But then we came across something very interesting!

Lookouts spotted the top of an old fort, or something, and we were able to descend and search for loot. It hadn't been looted before, or not very well at least. We got quite a bit of pieces of eight, along with some very nice jewelry. Sira took a necklace for herself that I'm... okay with... assuming it's not worth millions of pieces of eight or something.

We decided to stay another day and make another looting trip the next day with more time. This time things were more interesting. We encountered a tomb, I suppose of the former king or something. He wasn't quite dead. Well, he may have been dead, but he was still moving, and violently at that. I got myself into a bit of a pickle pushing Carlton out of reach of the Zombie King, and I took a beating. But Krastus managed to take him out and Helene did quite well healing me.Which netted me a glowing longsword, which may help in future battles. Unfortunately, we were just learning of disaster on the boat.

While were were searching, The Wild Monkey was attacked by Octopon... our crew was not so lucky. We lost two of our original crew and nearly lost the entire ship. I had just flanked them and was cutting into one when I saw Sira drop her guard to an attacker. The Octopon surely was going for the kill, and I had no choice but to try to save her. I leaped from the boat and caught hold of a  rope to swing back to where she was. I pushed her out of the way and took the full blow from the Octopon myself. This put me nearer to death than I'd been in a while, but by doing so the crew was able to dispatch the rest of the Octopon quickly.

I, unfortunately, was unable to pilot the ship. I was stable, and not bleeding to death, but Carlton and Krastus took turns piloting the boat. I had a dream that I tried to pilot the boat as well... but we didn't go anywhere so I must have been imagining it.

Either way... the crew got us to Brigandy Bay. We'll have to restock, rest up, and maybe hire on some replacement crew. We're all just lucky to be alive, but that's every day in Caribdus.
