Krastus: Of Water Spouts and Men

We left the sunken village and carried on to the teeth - quite a dull journey all told. The captain still seems keen on keeping all the booty to himself, and he is getting sarcastic because Carlton killed the Dragon. He should be careful - it isn't like it is hard for an arch windmage who is also a master carpenter to get a share on a ship.

The first thing I did was test my magic. Having studied the texts on dismissing magic, I quickly returned myself to my proper state. No more of that silliness - truly, if I ever return to Daiking I will ever so slowly gut the fools who had this potion. That done, I provided magical aid to speed us on our way.

When we arrived at the tower, we all had to help out with the ship and its sails due to the strong currents and narrow nature of the channel. Though on the way we found an eddy with a wreck with an interesting figurehead. I took Helene aboard to carry my tools and I sawed it off and brought it back to our ship for study and eventual use.

The mage's tower itself was atop a water spout - very showy, but really not that useful. Access was poor. The captain wished us to climb up, and everyone wanted to talk about it, so I went and proved it could be done. I made it half way up the rock before I slipped and floated back down. I then blessed those of us who wished to go up, the captain went up and lowered a rope and we followed.

There was a giant parrot, it seems. Which is - of course- a little odd. Still it did not stop us from entering, where upon we were faced with several tests. Too his credit the captain was quite brave in solving them. Brave or lucky, it makes little difference with  Cortes. Three of us made it all the way through to see the Archmage. She was...well, not amazingly helpful. She knew of the problem but could provide little assistance, though she did help Helene with a magic book. She did not take to me - I guess grumpy that someone else would dare to master all the elements.

So, we left and headed back to the ship - it turned out that Sira and Carlton didn't die when they were left behind, which was not an unwelcome occurance.

Still, we need to decide what we do now. We cannot keep lunging about all over the map - we still have ports open to us, and possibilities. Or we could try to save the world. Either way, it would be nice if we actually started to profit from this journey - other than things I've purchased my net gains so far are a book that I can't read and a few less pieces of eight.
