It seems that we make progress at a much slower rate than we should be. I'm here with only a few crew left, a bit pained, but I'm holding the magically enchanted sword that we found, and then lost, months ago. Bloodshed seems to be the way of things, but at least this time it was a more fair fight than some evil spirit killing children. A straight up fight, as it were.
So how'd we get here? We escaped Brigandy Bay, barely, and took some damage during our escape. The Nightmare Ascendent pursued us for some time, filled with Pirates from the Bay that wanted our heads as well. Fortunately for us and our entire crew, I'm more than a good captain and was able to take advantage of some favorable wind and waves and escape over the horizon. After that, we made for Azy Cay where we resupplied and recruited some extra crew just to replace some who we lost.
Our goal was to leave these pirate-folk behind and see about going to The Teeth and talking to an Archmage about rising water levels, which seems rather obvious since we are in Caribdus, but it's something to do, either way. However, fate had other ideas for us, as we were sailing east again, we spotted the black sails of the Nightmare Ascendent on the horizon and made evasive maneuvers to the north to escape them. We aren't yet ready for that fight.
But who would we run into in our haste to leave the Nightmare Ascendent behind? The Dawn Raider. The very ship that, you could say, started all our trouble. If you were Krastus and didn't want to blame yourself anyway. With the Dawn Raider ahead, we closed for battle and a massive boarding action too place. We were defensive, which was the right call, because Krastus, for all his faults as a madman murderer, when you need people killed, he will do it for you, and do it well.
A lot of our crew died, but not as many as theirs. In the end, their captain died and the remainder of their crew surrendered, leaving us the victors.
So, I've got the sword back. But my deck is really bloody. I should have someone swab it.
