Cortez: Money and Morals

I've always thought that I've had a good moral compass, but such things have to be put aside for the greater good. Such as keeping the crew. A crew that doesn't get pay doesn't stay, that's as old as the oceans, and we were in a mess, no kidding... so Krastus and I may have made a questionable moral decision.

Slaves. Bitter taste, for sure, but if we didn't transport them, someone else would, right? That's what I told myself, anyway. Krastus didn't care because they were human. That should've been a warning sign.

But I took them on board. I lied to Helene and Sira... told them they were prisoners. Well, not a total lie, I suppose. But now there seems to be much grumbling... and the crew wants to free them. Fight the slavers. As bad as not paying a crew is, leading them in a way that they hate is a surefire way to get a mutiny. And that would be more terrible.

I sometimes wonder if I'm cut out for this captaining stuff. Everyone keeps almost dying, or we lose everything to other pirates.
